International Women’s Day 2026 — Give To Gain 🇨🇦

  • March 3, 2026
Dear Friends,
As we approach March 8, 2026, we pause to reflect on International Women’s Day and this year’s powerful theme: “Give To Gain.”
From the perspective of Christian Heritage Month, this message carries profound meaning. It reminds us of a timeless biblical principle — that when we give faithfully and courageously, transformation follows.
Throughout Canada’s history, women have embodied this truth.
When Canadian Women Gave — Our Nation Gained
In the early 1900s, women across Canada stood firm for the right to vote. Many were motivated by deep Christian convictions about justice, dignity, and responsible citizenship. Leaders like Nellie McClung gave their voices, reputations, and relentless energy to advocate for suffrage.
Because they gave, Canada gained:
 • A stronger democracy
 • Expanded representation
 • Social reforms that improved education, healthcare, and family welfare
Then came the historic 1929 Persons Case, led by The Famous Five, including Emily Murphy. They challenged whether women were legally recognized as “persons” eligible to serve in the Senate.
They gave courage in the face of resistance.
Canada gained constitutional recognition of women as full participants in public life.
Later, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms reinforced equality protections for all Canadians, reflecting the foundational belief that every person carries inherent dignity.
Women gave leadership in churches, hospitals, schools, missions, and public office.
Canada gained resilience, compassion, and moral direction.
The Christian Foundation of Giving
As women of faith, we understand that giving is not weakness — it is strength.
We give:
 • Wisdom to our families
 • Leadership to our communities
 • Integrity in the workplace
 • Compassion to the vulnerable
 • Prayer over our nation
When we give mentorship, the next generation gains confidence.
When we give courage, our communities gain stability.
When we give faith, our nation gains hope.
Why We Must Continue to Give
The theme “Give To Gain” is not only about the past. It is about our present and our future.
If the women before us had stopped giving, Canada would not have gained democracy, equality, or representation.
And if we stop now — progress pauses.
But when we continue to give:
 • We gain stronger daughters.
 • We gain wiser leadership.
 • We gain economic strength.
 • We gain social unity.
 • We gain a nation rooted in dignity and justice.
As we look toward the future, we remember the women who gave before us — their courage, their conviction, their unwavering faith.
And now it is our turn.
To mentor.
To lead.
To speak.
To pray.
To build.
Because when women give sacrificially, lead courageously, and stand faithfully — Canada gains strength that outlives generations.
With reflection and gratitude,
